What Accounting tracks, how in-kind perks are recorded, and what the annual report is for.
Products and gifts are income too
A brand sending you something to keep is usually taxable in the same way a payment is. Register it with a market value and it lands in the same report as the money, which is the part most creators find out about too late.
Everything you earn through CollabNordic is recorded as it happens, with the fee and the tax attached to the job that produced them. The point is that your yearly numbers already exist in December rather than being rebuilt from a bank statement in April.
Where it lives
Finance → Accounting in the sidebar, with everything grouped by tax year. Transactions sits beside it and holds the individual payments.
What is tracked
| Tab | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Overview | Income, tax collected and net for the year, split between contracts and in-kind, with quarterly figures |
| Contracts | Every contract's money, with base price, tax and net, filterable and exportable |
| In-kind compensation | Products, gift cards, travel and other perks, at the value you record |
| Budgets | Targets by month, quarter or year, and progress against them |
| Year to date | Month by month with the change from the month before, so you can see how the year is shaping up |
| Tax report | The annual report, printable and exportable as a PDF |
In-kind compensation
A gifted product is not free. In most places it is income at its market value, and the tax authority takes the same view of a camera you kept as of a payment you banked.
Register it with the brand it came from and what it was worth, and use the campaign reference and receipt fields to tie it back to the deal. If you are registered for sales tax you can record that portion too. If it arrived priced in another currency, record the original amount and the rate you used, so the value in your report is the value at the time rather than today's.
The annual report
A printable summary of the year: your details, gross income, tax collected, net income, where the income came from, and the quarterly split. Print it or export a PDF.
It is a good starting point for a tax return and it is not a tax return. The figures are yours to check.
Accounting and the annual report are for your information. They are not tax advice, rules differ by country and situation, and a question about your own filing belongs with an accountant or your tax authority.
Currencies
Everything here is kept in the currency your account settles in, which is the currency your contracts are priced and paid in. In-kind entries can carry their own original currency and rate, so a perk received abroad is valued correctly rather than converted at whatever today's rate happens to be.
