Getting paid

How escrow works, when the money moves, and what Stripe is doing in the middle.

Värt att veta först

The money exists before the work does

A contract does not become live until the brand has paid the full amount into escrow. If you can see the job in Collaborations with the payment held, the funds are already there.

The brand pays before you start. The money sits in escrow while you work, and it is released when the work is approved. That is the whole model, and it is why the question on a CollabNordic job is never whether you will be paid, only when.

The four steps

  1. Offer becomes contract. A brand accepts your proposal, or you accept their booking. The deliverables, the price and the dates are fixed at that moment.
  2. Escrow is funded. The brand pays the full amount. It is held, not sent to you and not kept by the brand.
  3. You deliver. You submit each piece in Collaborations and request completion when everything is in.
  4. The money is released. On approval, or automatically 14 days after you request completion if the brand says nothing.

The 14 days

Once you request completion the brand has 14 days to approve or send the work back. If they do neither, the contract completes on its own and the money is released to you.

This is the same on every contract. Neither side can shorten it, and it is the reason a silent brand is an inconvenience rather than a problem.

The clock stops if the contract is reported. A reported contract is taken out of the automatic release while our team looks at it, so nothing pays out in the middle of a review.

What Stripe is doing

Payouts run through Stripe Connect. When a contract completes, the money moves from escrow to your connected Stripe account, and Stripe pays it on to your bank on its own schedule.

Two consequences worth knowing.

Your bank details are Stripe's, not ours. CollabNordic never stores them. There is a second timetable. Release from escrow and arrival in your bank are different events, usually a couple of days apart. Your Stripe Express dashboard, reachable from Settings → Payouts, is where you see the second one.

What you actually receive

You quote what you want to receive, and that is what reaches you. The platform fee is added on top of your price and paid by the brand; it is not taken out of your fee.

Sales tax, if you are registered for it, is also added on top and shown as its own line. You collect it and owe it onward.

Your currency

You price and are paid in one currency, set from your country when you connect Stripe. Escrow is funded and released in that same currency, so the number you quoted is the number you receive, with no conversion in the middle.

It is effectively fixed after setup: a Stripe connected account's country cannot be changed, and the currency follows the country.
