Getting started

Welcome to Creator Space

What Creator Space is, how the pieces fit together, and where to start.

Worth knowing first

Brands do not need an account

A proposal works as a link. Any brand you can email can read it, accept it, sign it and pay, without joining anything. The clients you already have can move onto proper contracts with escrow without being asked to sign up first.

Creator Space is where you run the business side of being a creator. Not the filming and the editing, but everything around it: who you are talking to, what you quoted, what you agreed, what you owe, and what you have been paid.

Most creators start out running this across four or five places at once. A note app for brands they have contacted, a spreadsheet for what was invoiced, email for the actual agreement, and a bank account that never quite explains which payment was for what. It works right up until it does not, usually somewhere around the fourth or fifth client.

Creator Space replaces that with one place where each piece follows from the last.

How the pieces fit together

You do not need to learn Creator Space section by section. It follows the shape of a job, from first contact to money in the bank.

  1. You find someone to work with. A brand you approach yourself and keep in My Brands, a campaign you apply to, or a brand that books one of your packages directly.
  2. You agree what it costs. A proposal puts the deliverables, the price and the usage rights in writing. The brand accepts and pays, and it becomes a signed contract.
  3. You do the work. The money sits in escrow while you shoot, deliver and handle revisions. It is already paid, so the question is never whether you will be, only when.
  4. You get paid, and it is already accounted for. Escrow releases on approval. The payment lands in Transactions with its fee and tax attached, so your yearly numbers add up without you rebuilding them.
